Indian Hegemony, Bangladesh's Security and the July Mass Uprising

"Delhi or Dhaka?—Dhaka, Dhaka!" and "If you want freedom, abandon devotion to India!" were among the most widely chanted slogans before and after the July Mass Uprising. These slogans reflected the clear attitudes and sentiments of many Bangladeshi citizens against what they perceived as Indian hegemony and various forms of external encroachment.

Against this backdrop, the Centre for Bengal Studies has organized an important seminar to examine these issues in light of the contemporary political context.
